The primary objective of smart cities is to connect and integrate every possible service and sector, such as utilities, energy, healthcare, transportation, governance, and security onto digital platforms. This integration of sectors and services infrastructure enables scalability of their potential and thus helps to expand respective services to make them better for the public good. This course, offered with the endorsement of the IEEE Communications Society, aims to provide a clearer picture of the transformation of cities into smart cities taking into account various levels of services including primary, secondary, and tertiary in areas such as healthcare systems, transportation, energy distribution,  and secured data communication based on privacy, safety, security and trust.
