Introduction to IEEE Std 1547-2018

  • Online

IEEE Standard 1547-2018, the primary interconnection standard for distributed energy resources in North America has been under revision for the past several years. In the first part of this course, the rationale for the revision of the standard will be addressed. In addition, the course will review codes and standards related to IEEE Std 1547, the history of the interconnection standards, and the IEEE 1547 evolution in both the short-term and long-term. In the second part of this course, the objectives are to familiarize learners with the following topics: general overview and limitations; inteference points of applicability (RPA); applicable voltages; measurement accuracy; cease to energize performance requirement; control capability requirements; prioritization of DER responses; isolation device; inadvertent energization of the area EPS and enter service. The goal is for learners to become aware of the critical assumptions and requirements that are included in the 1547 document.

What you will learn:

  • State the rationale for the revision of std 1547
  • Discuss the codes and standards related to std 1547
  • Summarize the history of the interconnection standards

This course is part of the following course program:
