Humanitarian Technology and Technology for Impact at IEEE

  • Course Program

This curriculum provides participants with an understanding of how technology can drive sustainable, community‑centered impact. The program emphasizes systems thinking, meaningful community engagement, and the use of appropriate, context‑driven technologies. Participants also gain introductory skills in monitoring and evaluation of a technology for impact project before integrating all concepts into a cohesive, practical framework.

This curriculum includes the following courses:

  • Module 1:  Introduction to Technology for Impact
  • Module 2: Foundations of Humanitarian Technology
  • Module 3: Community Engagement
  • Module 4: Monitoring and Evaluation
  • Module 5: Bringing it All Together

Learning about these topics will provide a strong foundation to understanding the humanitarian technology and technology for impact sector and will better prepare you to conduct a related activity or project. Tailored for busy IEEE members, each module should take 60 minutes or less to complete. Courses may be taken individually, but as content from previous courses is frequently referenced, it is recommended to complete the curriculum in the order listed.
