3D Placement & User Association for Load Balancing Among Aerial Base Stations

  • Online

This workshop focused on discussing the progress and continued endeavors on technology solutions pertaining to AIML-aided efficient spectrum utilization and dynamic adaptation for non-terrestrial coverage and connectivity.

The next generation communication systems are expected to be predominantly machine-type and human-machine interface driven, while the infrastructures will be more mobile and adaptive. For all-pervasive sensing coverage and connectivity is expected to be fulfilled by the NTN infrastructure involving UAVs, UGVs, HAPs, and LEO satellite constellations. Fleeting yet intensive communication resource requirements in such communication applications demand that the spectrum resources also need to be adaptively utilized, with more flexibility and responsibility assigned to the communicating entities. To this end, the communication technologies, such as NOMA, SIC, distributed MIMO, OTFS are some of the enablers. Besides, the user environment being much dynamic, the power of AIML is expected to be an integral part in fulfilling such adaptive needs. Keeping the above factors in mind, in this call for workshop we would like to attract attention on smart spectrum-efficient and energy-sustainable NTN communication techniques for wireless applications. Besides theoretical research contributions, we will also look for technology viability and prototype development efforts for adaptive all-pervasive communications ranging from low-rate telemetry to highly reliable, ultra-low latency, and bandwidth intensive communications.
