Learning Objectives: A Key to Better Teaching
The goal of this course is to teach instructors how to craft learning objectives. First, we'll explore the importance of writing learning objectives. Then, we'll examine the components of a properly written learning objective, and apply that knowledge as we evaluate learning objectives. Next, you'll try your hand at writing two learning objectives and then apply Bloom's Taxonomy of Educational Objectives to the objectives you developed.

Richard M. Felder, Ph.D., is Hoechst Celanese Professor Emeritus of Chemical Engineering at North Carolina State University. He is coauthor of Elementary Principles of Chemical Processes. He has authored or co-authored close to 300 papers on chemical process engineering and engineering education and presented hundreds of seminars, workshops, and short courses in both categories to industrial and research institutions and universities throughout the United States and abroad.
