Fundamentals of IEEE 1547-2018 Standard - An in-depth workshop video series
This video series, with 6+ hours of content, highlights the new features and capabilities outlined in the standard, 1547-2018 - IEEE Standard for Interconnection and Interoperability of Distributed Energy Resources (DER) with Associated Electric Power Systems Interfaces. In addition to a thorough overview of the standard, there are also presentations from North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC), National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), and Duke Energy related to DER and their impact to the grid.
Due to the increasing amount of DER interconnections with the Electric Power Systems, the IEEE 1547 standard has recently gone through a major revision to address technical issues associated with high penetration of DERs into the Electrical Grid.
This video series will introduce IEEE 1547-2018 "Standard for Interconnection and Interoperability of Distributed Energy Resources with Associated Electric Power Systems Interfaces", discuss transmission level integration, as well as certification and commissioning.
Key topics discussed in this video series include:
- IEEE 1547-2018 specific details on voltage regulation, response to abnormal system conditions (including voltage and frequency ride through), power quality, islanding, interoperability, and more.
- Bulk Power System impacts from DERs.
- Information on utility concerns and solutions to adopting the revised IEEE 1547 standard.
- Type test and commissioning testing details as defined in IEEE 1547.1 standard.
Audience: DER stakeholders (e.g., Regulators, Commission Staff, Utilities, DER Asset Owners, Equipment Vendors,Test Engineers) will find value in this video series.
